At 2:30 pm on December 28th, 2018, Meilian Experimental School, CCNU No.1 Middle School organized all the students in Grade 1 to carry out the activity of Chinese traditional festival theme education themed “Love China and Inherit Classics”. The activity was organized to enable children just entering in the school to know Chinese nation’s important traditional festivals, know about their hometown’s life styles and customs and initially feel classical folk art-paper cuttings.
The first link of the activity was theme lecture of Chinese traditional festivals. With several important traditional festivals such as Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival and Double Ninth Festival as representatives, lecturers systematically interpreted connotations of traditional culture from the perspectives of the origin and characteristics of traditional festivals and activity contents of traditional festivals.
The second link was knowledge guessing of Chinese traditional festivals. Students used knowledge learnt from lectures on the venue and raised hands one after another to speak positively, which pushed this activity to a climax.
The third link was hand making of classical folk art. Taking a group as a unit, in work sharing and cooperation, with hand-making materials including color mud, color paper and color pens, students took part in activities to make spring festival scrolls and cut paper cuttings for windows. What a boisterous scene!
This activity was aimed at enabling students in Grade 1 to know about important traditional festivals of Chinese nation and feel folk art. Through carrying out this themed education activity, the school implemented the enlightenment education in Chinese traditional culture of juveniles, publicized and educated the meaning and significance of Chinese traditional culture, and instructed students to correctly know about and cognitively learn about Chinese traditional culture in order to carry out Chinese traditional culture education healthily, persistently and effectively.
