During March 4th to March 8th, 2019, Meilian Experimental School, CCNU No.1 Middle School carried out an activity of Chinese Week. Themed “Writing Ourselves and Writing Life”, the activity carried out writing lessons every day, instructed students to learn correct writing methods and cultivate their good writing habits. To further stimulate students’ writing passion, on the morning of March 8th, the school organized to carry out hard-tipped pen calligraphy competition. After the competition, teachers appraised and elected “small calligraphers”, “calligraphy talents” and “young calligraphy experts” in this competition and commended the prize-winning students on the morning of March 11th.

Through systematic learning for one week, most students’ writing typeface became beautiful. They could use a pen correctly with a standard posture. From a writing class to a writing competition, students slowly calmed down and wrote each stroke and each Chinese character, which gradually showed their own best writing level. Children’s immature, neat and orderly handwriting fully embodied teaching results of writing lessons in Chinese Activity Week.

Chinese characters inherit Chinese nation’s unyielding nature; and the extensive and profound Chinese civilization is included in each brushstroke. The calligraphy activity not only developed students’ good writing habits, but also enhanced their interest in the traditional art of calligraphy and taught them to write in a patient, careful, rigorous and neat way.
